Melissa Sebrechts recently finished her PhD in sociology at the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (University of Amsterdam). Trained as a medical anthropologist, she examined the concept of recognition in the context of sheltered workshops for young men with mild intellectual disabilities. She is now working as a postdoctoral researcher at the University for Humanistic Studies, studying welfare clients’ experiences of social justice against the background of welfare devolution in the Netherlands
