Boekpresentatie 'Understanding the Age of Transitional Justice'

Op dinsdag 19 juni organiseert het NIOD de boekpresentatie Understanding the Age of Transitional Justice: Crimes, Courts, Commissions, and Chronicling van Nanci Adler (Hoofd Genocide Studies NIOD). Het eerste exemplaar wordt overhandigd aan rechter Alphons Orie (ICTY/MICT). Onderzoeker Nicole Immler van de Universiteit voor Humanistiek vertelt over haar bijdrage aan het boek, en er is de vertoning van de film Srebrenica Genocide: No Room for Denial.


Sinds de jaren tachtig zijn er legale en illegale praktijken ontwikkeld om post-repressieve, post-autoritaire en post-conflict samenlevingen te ondersteunen bij het omgaan met hun verleden. In de nieuwe publicatie Understanding the Age of Transitional Justice: Crimes, Courts, Commissions, and Chronicling van Nanci Adler (Hoofd Onderzoek Genocide Studies) worden de processen, producten en effectiviteit van transnationale recht-mechanismen geanalyseerd. Bovendien wordt er gekeken hoe genocide, politiek geweld en historische onrechtvaardigheden institutioneel worden aangepakt.
