Solidarity in a diverse society

  • Start project: 1 January 2021
  • Status:  under preparation
Populism is putting solidarity under pressure, especially solidarity across ethnic-cultural boundaries. This project aims to identify the conditions conducive to cultivating solidarity in diverse societies.

Description

The European training network "Solidarity in Diversity" (SOLiDi) is organising an education and research programme aimed at cultivating solidarity across cultural boundaries, taking specific places and practices as a starting point.

The SOLiDi network consists of scholars from the disciplines of sociology, social geography and pedagogical science, plus a wide range of non-academic partners active in many different sectors. The network will train 15 PhD students in relevant theories, research methods, policy development and organisational change.

The goal is to elaborate a new vision on solidary that does justice to super-diverse societies and to better equip professionals and organisations with adequate and innovative tools to cultivate solidarity in diverse societies.
