Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

The University of Humanistic Studies is committed to creating an inspiring studying and working environment in which diversity is valued and all emplyees and students from diverse backgrounds can feel welcome and at home.

Vision

Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) policy is based on the Strategic Plan 2022 – 2026, with an emphasis on the perspectives of sustainability, the impact of globalization and inclusiveness. We aim at realizing an inspiring learning and working community, in which there is space, respect and appreciation for differences and in which various forms of learning and working can come into their own.

In the interpretation of DEI policies in the fields of Education, Research and Organization & Policy, we start from contemporary social and existential questions in a globalizing society where diverse expectations, possibilities, ambitions, views, images and rituals play a role. Our work is inspired by humanistic values and traditions.

Key points 2023-26

  • Diversity: increasing diversity among staff and students. This is reflected in the presence of various forms of diversity, including ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation and physical or psychological disabilities.

  • Equity: raising awareness of the existence of prejudice and discrimination. We are committed to equal opportunity and equity policies by creating conditions in which employees and students from diverse backgrounds can thrive.
  • Inclusion: deliberate efforts that ensure a study and work environment where differences are welcomed, different perspectives are discussed respectfully, and where everyone can feel at home and involved.

Governance

The DEI Steering Committee was formed in 2022 for developing the diversity policy for the University of Humanistic Studies. All departments are represented in the organization, guaranteeing broad support within the organization.
