The University of Humanistic Studies (UvH) in Utrecht conducts scientific research and develops and provides study programmes in the field of humanistics. Humanistics is a multi-disciplinary applied science that embraces the principles of a humanist philosophy of life, viewing the meaning of life and humanization as its central concepts. These underlying principles characterise the UvH’s study programmes (550 students/60 PhD’s) in the field of spiritual care, philosophical and moral education and other counselling or advisory professions in educational institutions, businesses, policy-making bodies and other organisations. These divergent professional fields for humanists are viewed in conjunction with each other while education, research and valorisation at the UvH are approached with an emphasis on their mutual connections.

Fully tenured Professor of Humanisation of Organisations (0,8 – 1,0 fte)

 

Profile:
We are looking for a scholar in organisation studies, who combines a critical attitude with a profound knowledge of mainstream research in organisation theory. We are looking for a scientific researcher who is highly interested in developing new types of organisations and institutions and thus in contributing scientifically to a more humane society. This person will also have strong didactic skills and  will be able to help highly motivated students to develop their own stance within critical organisation theory.

The candidate will hold a PhD in social sciences or philosophy, and has strong affinity and experience with empirical research (also qualitative), which is reflected in one’s doctoral thesis and subsequent publications.

We offer a temporary contract for the duration of 2 years. With proven ability the contract term will be converted to permanent. The position is classified as professor 2 under the Dutch University Job Classification System UFO (salary scale H2, Collective Labour Agreement (CAO) for Dutch Universities, minimum € 5003,- tot  maximum € 7285,- brute per month on fulltime basis). Commencement of employment on March 1st 2014 (preferabely).
