University of Humanistic Studies is new partner in Utrecht Summer School
14 March 2024
Utrecht Summer School boffers some 160 courses annually, with 3,000 students and professionals from around the world participating, both on-site and online. The Summer School is a partnership of Utrecht University, Utrecht University of Applied Sciences and HKU School of the Arts. The affiliated higher education institutions provide high-quality, predominantly accredited courses in English at undergraduate, graduate and PhD levels.
Director Bettina Nelemans of the Utrecht Summer School: "For the Utrecht Summer School, the entry of the University of Humanistic Studies means a valuable enrichment and broadening of our wide and diverse curriculum."
The University of Humanistic Studies focuses on contemporary questions dealing with ethics, philosophy, citizenship, meaning, art and the design of a humane and meaningful society. These are often public issues that have an ethical and normative side to them. How do we want to interpret our democratic rule of law? How do we deal with the processing of historical injustice? What do we understand by good care? This summer, researchers can participate online and on location in the course The politics of Disablement.
Rector Joke van Saane on the cooperation: "The Summer School reaches (PhD) students from all over the world who want to develop themselves further and at the same time have the opportunity to get acquainted with our beautiful city of Utrecht. They do so with a very diverse and high-quality offer. We are happy to make our contribution to this."
The University of Humanistic Studies is joining the alliance of the Utrecht Summer School. On March 13, UU Rector Henk Kummeling and UvH Rector Joke van Saane signed an agreement to this effect.
