Laura Vermeulen (1986) studied sociology and anthropology at the University of Amsterdam and has a background in ethnographic and participatory action research in health care and social services. Before joining the UvH, she worked as a program coordinator at a training center, the Ben Sajet Center. There, she coordinated various learning networks and conducted action research on family- and system-oriented approaches used by healthcare and social services professionals. Laura’s doctoral research focuses on a responsive concept of being in critical phenomenology. For this research, while affiliated with the University of Amsterdam, she conducted ethnographic research with people living alone at home who have dementia in the Netherlands.
