‘Education for Transformation’: education and flourishing in an age of ecological crisis

Published on:

The Department of Foundations of Education at the University of Humanistic Studies recently published Education for Transformation: Humanistic Perspectives on Flourishing in the Anthropocene. At a time of global ecological crisis, the book demonstrates how education can help us understand and address these challenges.

The book brings together a wide range of authors who, drawing on diverse humanistic and philosophical perspectives, reflect on how education can contribute to human and ecological flourishing in a world that is both fragile and deeply interconnected.
The contributions in the book address themes such as ecological awareness, the role of values in education, and the redefinition of humanism and education in a world characterised by climate change and social inequality.

The chapters have been written by researchers affiliated with the University of Humanistic Studies and partners. It demonstrates that education is not merely a means of transferring knowledge, but also serves as a vehicle for reflection on ethical and social issues.

The book has been published by Brill Education for Transformation; and is via open access available:
