Solidarity in a diverse society
- Project start date: 1 January 2021
- Status: ongoing
Solidarity is under pressure from populism, especially solidarity across ethnic and cultural boundaries. This project aims to identify the conditions under which solidarity can be promoted in diverse societies.
Description
The European training network “Solidarity in Diversity” (SOLiDi) organises a training and research programme aimed at generating solidarity across cultural boundaries. Specific places and practices are taken as a starting point.
The SOLiDi network consists of scientists from the fields of sociology, social geography and educational science, as well as a wide range of non-academic partners active in many different sectors. The network will train 15 PhD students in relevant theories, research methods, policy development and organisational change.
The aim is to develop a new vision of solidarity that does justice to super-diverse societies and to better equip professionals and organisations with adequate and innovative tools to promote solidarity in diverse societies.
