Daan F. Oostveen (Eindhoven, 1985) has been an Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Religion in the Philosophy and Humanism chair group since 2025. Oostveen studied philosophy and comparative literature at Ghent University. He obtained his PhD in 2020 from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam with a dissertation on multiple religious belonging, supervised by André van der Braak and Manuela Kalsky. As a PhD candidate, he spent time at the Department of Philosophy at the Renmin University in Beijing, China, in 2018. As a postdoctoral researcher, he is affiliated with the Faculty of Philosophy at National Taiwan University in 2025. Between 2019 and 2022, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Utrecht University with Rosi Braidotti on a research project on the New Humanities in the context of the World Humanities Report (UNESCO/Volkswagen Foundation). He also taught various courses in religious studies at the same university. He is currently editor-in-chief of the academic journal Future Humanities in Oxford.
