Dutch network NLU receives a grant to set up a Digital Competence Centre

The Dutch Regieorgaan Open Science (part of NWO) has awarded the Dutch Netwerk van Levensbeschouwelijke Universiteiten (NLU) a grant of 500,000 euros to set up a Digital Competence Centre (DCC). The University of Humanistic Studies is acting as lead partner on behalf of the four universities involved.

The grant will enable the universities to work together to establish and develop a Digital Competence Centre (DCC).

About the DCC

A DCC facilitates joint activities for research, ranging from grant applications to the archiving of FAIR data. The DCC brings together knowledge on topics such as Open Science, AI and data security. In addition, with the help of this grant, the DCC will take a more proactive approach to offering training and information, thereby building a community of colleagues engaged in digital skills. The NLU’s DCC will also join national initiatives, such as the thematic DCC for the social sciences and humanities.

Robbert Hoogstraat, Head of Research and Valorisation, speaking on behalf of the UvH regarding the grant: “Digital skills are becoming increasingly important for academic research. This grant provides an impetus for universities with a philosophical ethos to join forces in order to pool the necessary support activities.”

Duration and organisation of the project

Two staff members will be appointed at the UvH for a period of four years to carry out the project. These staff members will be supported by a project group comprising members of the philosophical universities.
