Benedetta, exchange student
Benedetta Ameli, an exchange student from Milan, followed the bachelor exchange programme:
“I was excited to learn something new. My favourite class was the course on ‘ethics’, because that topic is also addressed a lot in my studies in Italy. The approach that the professor used was really interesting: he got to know me and my background, my previous knowledge, and he also offered me his help for a paper and assignments.
And the university in general? I think the people here are friendly and very kind, I always felt that I was where I was supposed to be. I sometimes went out for drinks and coffee with some classmates after lectures. It’s a good thing that there are not too many students, so the teachers can have a more personal approach. They are all very open. Studying in the Netherlands was a good decision.
Most of all I liked the passion of the teachers here. I feel like teachers really want to teach, that they really like what they’re doing and they really believe in what they’re doing. The themes in the courses and also the activities can be a bit scary sometimes, because I’ve never done anything like it. The impact has been huge, and it’s a good new experience. Students are really developing a critical way of thinking and there is room to express your own opinions in class.”
