- Full title: Spiritual care for veterans with moral injury: A development and evaluation study of an existential-narrative intervention
The concept of “moral injury” was developed to describe the struggles of veterans resulting from confrontation with morally shocking situations during deployment. However, there appears to be little empirical research into the care provided by spiritual counsellors in cases of moral injury, their working methods and interventions, the outcomes of the care provided, or their collaboration with other care professionals.
In the proposed research project, a specific spiritual care intervention will be developed and evaluated based on existing practices of spiritual care for veterans with moral injury. The research is not only aimed at developing knowledge about the significance of spiritual care for veterans with moral injury, but more broadly at integrating existential care into, and thereby strengthening, the chain of care for these veterans.
