- Period: 2020-2021
- Status: completed
Researchers from the University of Humanistic Studies and teachers from MBO Rijnland (school for vocational education) conducted an educational design study to investigate how teachers can promote belief in one’s own abilities among students at MBO Rijnland.
Description
In this one-year mixed-method research and development project, colleagues from the University of Humanistic Studies, in collaboration with citizenship education teachers from the Start-Up and Economics departments, are investigating how teachers can promote self-confidence among students at MBO Rijnland.
The researchconsists of three components:
- A broad assessment of students’ belief in their own abilities in three key areas: study, career and citizenship
- The development, implementation and formative evaluation of a teaching programme that aims to increase students’ belief in their own abilities in two areas of citizenship, namely the political and social domains, in accordance with the 2017-2021 MBO Citizenship Agenda.
- Mapping the professional development of the teachers involved in order to provide personalised citizenship education that promotes students’ belief in their own abilities.
