Carmen Schuhmann (1970) is associate professor of Chaplaincy Studies at the University of Humanistic Studies. She holds a PhD in methematics from the University of Leiden (the Netherlands) and has worked as a researcher in the field of algebraic geometry at the University of Essen (Germany). After switching to humanistic studies, she worked for several years as a humanist prison chaplain. Her current research interests include: the relational and socio-political dimensions of meaning in life and spiritual care, moral injury and moral resilience, and chaplaincy in the military.
