New measures to stop the spread of Coronavirus

13 March and 15 March 2020

From Thursday 12 March 2020 new measures apply in the Netherlands to stop the spread of coronavirus. The measures are based on the advice of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM).

Closing the building

In line with the national guidelines, we want to enable our employees to work entirely from home. For this reason, the building of the University of Humanistic Studies will be closed with effect from Saturday 14 March 2020. For the time being, this measure will apply until 6 April.

Education, research, examinations and support

All lectures, meetings and examinations up to and including 31 March have been cancelled.  Wherever possible, online educational activities and alternative forms of examinations will be offered.  As far as possible, academic research and all support activities will continue from home.

Emergency measures Education and Examination Regulations (OER)

A 'Guideline on the handling of education and examinations' will shortly be adopted by the Executive Board, which will, among other things, cover an extension of the so-called Profiling fund, the Binding Study Advice (BSA) and a possible adjustment of the lecture and examination period. The university will make every effort to minimise the negative consequences for students as much as possible.

Events and academic ceremonies

All events scheduled until 31 March will be cancelled or postponed. Keep an eye on the agenda on the website.

For everyone in the Netherlands: stay at home if you have a cold, a cough, a sore throat or a fever. Avoid contact with others (social distancing). Only call your doctor if your symptoms worsen.

Students and staff will be informed about further measures and possibilities to learn and work at home.
