Dr. Carolina Suransky - Director

Carolina Suransky directs the Kosmopolis Institute of the University of Humanistic Studies, is lecturer in Globalization Studies and co-chair of the International Pluralism Knowledge Program. She coordinates the annual international summer school on Pluralism and Development with partner organizations in India, Indonesia, Uganda and South Africa. She is visiting professor at the Institute for Reconciliation and Social Justice at the University of the Free State in South Africa. Her research focuses on globalization, identity and Higher Education.

Prof. Sitharaman Kakarala

Ram Kakarala is Senior Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Culture & Society (CSCS) in Bangalore, India and Lead Researcher of the Law, Society and Culture Programme at CSCS. In addition, he is Visiting Professor at the National Law University in Delhi, India and Senior Fellow at the Kosmopolis Institute in the Pluralism Knowledge Program. His research focuses on Law, Democracy & Pluralism, Human Rights, Postcolonial Constitutionalism, and Comparative Studies.

Bart Mijland, BA - Programme & Network Assistant

Bart Mijland studied International Organisation and International Relations and earned his Bachelor's degree in Humanistic Studies. Currently he is in the final stages of his 3-year Master programme, writing his thesis on Bruno Latour's Politics of Nature. Previously, he worked at the programmes Leren voor Duurzame Ontwikkeling (LvDO) and Natuur & Milieu Educatie (NME) at AgentschapNL of the dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation. His focus is on humanism and sustainable development, especially in relation to pluralism, democracy and biocultural diversity.
